Sovereign credit ratings provide forward-looking, relative opinions on credit risk.
Although methodologies and rating scales differ across Credit Rating Agencies (CRA), their common objective is to assess sovereign creditworthiness in a consistent and comparable way.
This map, part of European Association of Credit Rating Agencies Educational Series #16, presents a harmonised aggregation of sovereign credit ratings, based on information disclosed via ESMA’s European Rating Platform, using a consistent mapping across CRA.
The aim is purely educational: to illustrate how sovereign credit risk is positioned globally at a given point in time, based on publicly available rating information.
